Chapter Twenty-Six

It was time for Juan to show up for the meeting with those guys he owed money to, or the package, they did not seem to want one over the other but it was the money that really they wanted. Juan knew this and after all is said and done when it comes down to it ninety percent of people will choose the money. Juan figures that if he can stall these guys a few more days he will be able to get the entire money from either Terry who has now hit the jackpot, or from that stupid detective she married, they have enough money between them to last a life time, and she owes me big time and they will pay me or else. He was due at work about this time so he had to call the hotel and beg off for a while as he had an important meeting he had to go to, the maitre'd did not like it as usual, they rarely do, but since he was one of their better waiters and had a good following, they did allow him at times to take some time off. Juan was satisfied with the result at the hotel, so off he went to the place he was to meet them, man he did not know where but he figures at this stage as he was scared enough to beg for forgiveness if that was necessary. he got into his car which he always parked right outside of his apartment, and headed south along the freeway towards Fremont, a small area south of Vegas where some strip clubs and gambling parlors were, these are not exactly what you will find in the hotels, these are real dirty places and rough, where the true gambling addicts hang out, because they can get any amount of limit from these guys but you had better be able to pay back when they say so. It was this group that Juan fell in with and now he must pay the piper.

The area seemed to be quite empty to him for this time of night and he sensed that things were not going to be pleasant for him this night, suddenly he saw before him a dark shape, lurking off to the sides, as if waiting for him, and sure enough the shadow was coming towards him and then there was an other from the other side, and then there seemed to be three of them Oh God Juan said out loud please protect me, but He did not hear him at all and they were all over the car, with Juan trying to get away but it was no use, Juan was trapped deep into this bad area and the thugs were out to kill him he feared, the next thing he heard was the breaking of glass, it was the passenger side of the car and they had broken the window, and then someone was reaching into the
